Governance overview

Bridgemary School is an academy as part of the Kemnal Academies trust (TKAT)


TKAT is a multi-academy trust which was established on 1st September 2010.  Its constitution is set out in the Articles of Association and this is shared with individual academies via the Scheme of Delegation.  TKAT have, through the Scheme of Delegation, established Local Governing Bodies for each of the Academies.


The Local Governing Body of each of the Academies is responsible for fulfilling the strategic and operational governance role in the conduct of the Academy.

Bridgemary School Local Governing Body (LGB)

Mission Statement

Our students are at the heart of everything we do and we strive to inspire learners and change lives as a result of our exceptional educational provision. As a member of the TKAT Multi Academy Trust we are committed to drive educational standards through the provision of high quality teaching, leadership and learning for all.  At Bridgemary School an ethos of inclusion, community and collaboration will ensure that all students have every chance to flourish, fully enjoy their experience and be prepared/qualified for the next stage of their education.

The role of the governors is to:

  • Set the strategic direction of the school
  • Hold the headteacher to account for the performance of the School
  • Ensure money is used wisely
  • The constitution of the Governing Body is up to 12 governors:

  • 1 Headteacher
  • 2 Staff Governors
  • 2 Parent Governors
  • 7 LGB appointed governors

    There are seven meetings of the Local Governing Body each academic year.  In addition to this, there is the pay committee who delegate responsibility laid out in their terms of reference.
