Family Afternoon Tea
Celebrating World Book Day and Beyond
Families were invited to afternoon tea on the 26th and 27th February to celebrate the joy of sharing a story together. As you can see from the photos the event was well attended with younger siblings coming along as well.
‘It was nice to share a book with my mum. Also my mum was impressed with my literacy role as a reading buddy.’ Riley Wood Year 9 Literacy Leader
'What a splendid Afternoon tea. I was made to feel most welcome by the year 7, 8 and 9 students. Lots of proud year 9’s and their families chatting and laughing with the equally proud year 7’s.
The year 9’s I spoke to were very pleased and honoured to help the younger year 7 students with their reading. The year 7’s I spoke to were very enthusiastic about reading and books.
It was a pleasure to be invited to such a wonderful celebration. Thank you to Mrs James and Tracey Sweetenham for all of their hard work in making the reading programme happen. It is wonderful to see the year 7’s flourish and become more confident readers' Mrs Tucker Science Teacher at Bridgemary School
